Operation Overview
During the Obesity Lap Band Procedure, a smaller stomach pouch will be formed in the upper portion of the stomach. Typically, this pouch will only hold about ½ to 1 ounces of food. This pouch connects the remainder of the stomach through an outlet called a stoma.
The individual who has undergone the Obesity Lap Band Procedure will not seek to eat when their upper stomach is full and they will be able to control their weight gain. In the meantime, they are taking pounds off and increasing their chances for better overall health.
